JONATHAN MARSH
Jonathan is the CEO of Steel Toe Consulting and a technology strategist, specializing in helping construction companies integrate and implement modern technology and workflows to enhance their operations. In addition to his leadership role, Jonathan acts as a Product Owner on various projects, guiding the development of innovative construction software solutions. He also serves as a construction startup advisor and a software product manager, focusing on creating tools that drive industry progress.
Beyond his work at Steel Toe, Jonathan contributes to the industry through research and reporting for various industry groups via the MEP Innovation Lab. He plays a key role in developing both hardware and software solutions tailored for the construction sector.
Previously, Jonathan was the CTO at Wm. T. Spaeder Company, a mechanical contractor in Northwest Pennsylvania, where he oversaw IT, virtual design & construction, and engineering. With over two decades of experience in the AEC industry, Jonathan has an extensive background in MEP construction processes, engineering, and IT solutions. During his tenure at Spaeder, he led the adoption of progressive technologies, including modular fabrication, BIM, and advanced project management approaches.
Jonathan began his career in residential home design, land surveying, and teaching before transitioning to the AEC industry. He spent a decade as an IT administrator and MEP designer at H.F. Lenz Company, where he specialized in healthcare and education projects. In 2007, Jonathan shifted his focus to construction, implementing BIM and other construction technologies to improve job coordination, building information, and off-site fabrication. His experience spans a wide range of sectors, including commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial refining, large manufacturing, sewage, and wastewater. Throughout his career, Jonathan has remained dedicated to modular and lean design principles, leveraging technology for increased automation and off-site manufacturing.
